As part of our societal remit, the FEBS Science and Society Committee runs a science and society session at the FEBS Congress, which in 2019 explored the topic of personalised medicine. The committee would like to build on this and reach a wider audience and to this end here announces a call for proposals from FEBS Constituent Societies to run a science in society event or activity under the same theme.
The exact format of the event/activity is up to the organizing society and we would like to support a range of activities from speaker events to educational activities, including for public engagement on this issue.
Up to €2000 is available from FEBS to support this activity. Events or activities which involve more than one FEBS Constituent Society or which enable the sharing of an activity across FEBS Constituent Societies are encouraged.
Further guidelines
- The funds from FEBS in support of an event can be used to cover venue costs, printing/publishing/creating material for an event/activity, rail/air ticket and accommodation (if required) of invited speaker(s), and lunch/ dinner for the invited speaker(s), organizers and the Chair of the Constituent Society.
- FEBS support must be noted on all publicity and at the start and end of the event/activity.
- Applications must come from or be endorsed by the Constituent Society and are limited to one application per FEBS Constituent Society.
- All materials arising from the activity (for example for educational activities or public outreach) must be made freely available for other FEBS Constituent Societies to use.
- A further condition of funding is the writing of a short report or blog post on your event/activity, which FEBS may like to use on the FEBS Network or in other publicity.
-
Societies who wish to apply should submit a 1-page (A4) outline of their event/activity along with the proposed budget by 11th October 2019. Please send this to Mark Roberts of the FEBS Science and Society Committee at [email protected]
