Dr. Christophe Leterrier (Marseille, France) is an engineer by training who turned to cell biology and neurobiology, striving to understand how neurons are organized at the cellular level. How do they differentiate, then build and maintain their complex arborization? Since 2017, he has been leading the NeuroCyto lab in Marseille, where advanced microscopy techniques are applied to directly observe molecular assemblies at the nanoscale, revealing how they organize the neuron and shape its physiology. They are focusing on the organization of the neuronal cytoskeleton, and in recent years they have revealed the unique architecture and functions of actin nanostructures along the axon shaft and within presynaptic boutons. |
